Problems Using PSeries Drives with CardWare Software
Installing Apsoft Cardware on an NT4 machine with the PSeries drivers installed, may cause your system to freeze or crash with a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). This is caused by unsynchronised conflicting access to hardware registers in the PCMCIA/CardBus controller by the CardWare driver and the PSeries.sys driver.
Concurrent operation of PSeries drivers and CardWare drivers are not supported.
Resolution
There are two resolutions to this problem...
- Uninstall Cardware and use the PSeries driver on it's own. Please refer to CardWare documentation for instructions on uninstalling the CardWare product.
- Uninstall the PSeries drivers and use Cardware on it's own. Although untested by Elan, it has been reported that the Cardware drivers are able to support the PSeries hardware without any problems, so this may offer you a solution.
Uninstallation
To fully uninstall the pseries driver, it is necessary to manually remove the driver.
- Uninstall PSeries Software (via Control Panel | Add/Remove programs)
- Open registry editor (Regedit.exe) and delete the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\PSeries. - Reboot the computer.
