WiMAX Solutions from Elan
WiMAX™ is wireless technology which is designed to offer last-mile broadband access to users. Fixed WiMAX is already being used across the world, and mobile WiMAX is being rolled out during 2008 to offer connectivity without the need for direct line-of-sight.
A WiMAX cell can cover between 3 and 10 km and support hundreds of simultaneous connections making them particularly suitable for urban wireless zones and for more remote areas where other forms of connection have not proved practical.

Interface Adapters
Our wide range of adapters from one interface format to another are ideal for WiMAX products, often only available in a limited number of formats. As a universal solution, the P-Series of PCI to PCMCIA/Cardbus automatically work with WiMAX. We also offer USB adapters which are suitable for WiMAX cards. If you have an ExpressCard WiMAX card, the ECA16 adapter to PCMCIA, a solution which maximises the power available to your connection, could be the solution that you need.
Chipsets
Several WiMAX PC card designs already use Elan's VMB5000 bridge chip to offer a low power solution for maximum stability. Elan's new VEB250 host controller is ideal for WiMAX products in SDIO or ExpressCard format, or in embedded module designs.
